What are the symptoms of a faulty Distributor ??.

I live in Australia and have a possible faulty BOSCH Distributor in my 1984 Falcon.

The Engine is a Carburetted 3.3 litre version with Electronic Ignition.

What are the symptoms of a faulty Dissy ?.

What is meant by a 'curve' ?.

Electronic ignition doesn't have a Dissy as such, its a different set up the the old Distributor Cap that you know.

To Diagnose Electronic ignition you will need to use a 'Multi-Meter' to test the spark power or just take to any Auto Electrician to test it for you.

Old method of testing is:

Remove  spark plug from engine to see spark jump while turning the engine over (requires a 2nd person)

do this to ALL 6 spark plugs to ensure spark on all lines, a weak spark can also be caused by a cheap or worn lead.

providing you have good spark & plugs then you'll probably find its the Electro-ignition solenoid. (the little black box that the leads come from)

Auto sparky will verify that in 5 minutes.
