Got a very mall skin abrasion which seemed to heal nicely in a few days, then suddenly started itching and opened up. Was told by a herbalist that I have an acid imbalance. Medication seems slow in working. I need the have a change of diet I think. Could you give some guidance on what types of foods will help the healing totally process?

You are so right.  Normally, the body heals itself.  However, it has to have the correct nutrient.  These days it is very difficult to eat the 90+ vitamins and minerals in food.  So, you must supplement correctly.

However, there are easy ways to promote healing by eating bone soup, gelatin,  eliminating foods which cause digestive stress, using foods that do not promote inflammation.

If you have bacteria, virus or fungal infection your immune system is supposed to take care of that.  So the question is why isn't your immune system taking care of healing the skin?

As you may know, most of your immune system is in the gut.  If the gut has been compromised due to poor diet then the immune system will be compromised.

The use of antibiotics is one of the drugs that can be beneficial when dealing with a bacterialogical infection.  I do not know if that is what you have.

You might consider cleaning up your diet, acidifying the stomach by taking a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with meals, using bentonite clay as a poltice or zradical from Youngevity or collodial silver externally. Be sure that you are able to absorb the food you eat. Use fermented foods like yogurt, kombucha, kimchi, etc. to introduce helpful vitamins and minerals into the gut. Other healing foods are ones that contain sulfur like eggs, garlic, onions, etc.  You do need good oils like the ones found in the skins of chicken, fish, coconuts, other nuts and omegas.

My family has used activated charcoal very successfully internally as well as externally.  We also make a sole' with Himalayan salt to treat ourselves and dogs when we get a cut.  That works for us.  Iodine could also be used on the wound.

I would also make sure you are drinking enough clean water (1 liter for every 25 kilos of body weight per day).  At last you must supplement with the 90+vitamins and minerals in order to be sure you are covered.

If by the time you read this post your skin has not started to heal seek professional advice.  Please stay in touch and let us learn from your experience.

Hi Vevian,

Actually you need acid in the stomach to digest food, kill parasites and to break down minerals.  Often people think they have an acid problem when really what they have is a weakend sphincter above the stomach.  Acid pops up the wrong way and burns.

If you use natrum I wonder how will you break down the food so that it an be absorbed.  That is why naturopaths recommend using apple cider vinegar with meals to acidify the stomach.

It might be helpful if you would elaborate on your symptoms more so that we can understand what is going on with your digestion.

Thank you for sharing.
