She leaps from couch to chair to dining room table to avoid walking on my living room carpet. Even when I put a snack in a bowl for her on my living room floor, she will not jump down from whatever piece of furniture she is sitting on. I have to pick her up and place her beside the food bowl before she will eat it. She is not a lazy cat. And I keep a clean house. But she has just started this strange behavior. Someone said that cats do this when your carpet is infested with fleas. But this is not the case. She is strictly an indoor cat and does not have fleas. The reason I need to solve this problem is because she startles me when she leaps onto the back of whatever chair I happen to be sitting in. And in the process, she ends up SCRATCHING my legs and arms. So has anyone of you heard of this problem? Short of getting a new carpet, I don't know what to do.
P.S. This summer I did have an infestation of bugs that are called EARWIGS. They have a set of pinchers on their tail. My cat was "enthralled" with them. Considered them her buddies and tried to play with them. I haven't seen any of those in awhile now. Could it be possible she got stung by one and it has caused her to be afraid of my carpet now?
