some years ago i found 12 kilo lump of what i thought was ambergis hook imprint inside ,right colour ,smell,melting point ,specific gravity, waxy granular build up .shape the lot. every perfume maker linked ambergris broker has told me its not , iv been told some funny things from these so called experts though - limestone ,tree gum , petroleum  jelly ,fish fat - the lot , its defo not these  but still not sure what it is , saw some golden  granuals called amberin looked exactly the same but i didnt see the lump they came off . be interested to see if any knows of anything different . mike.
