whether brass burner is better than iron burner

I changed the gas burner of our gas stove from iron to Brass. But  to my shock i found that my gas emptied from 50 days to 35 days and then today to 26 days. I don't   know the exact reason for this. can anybody tell me the reason and the solution to this problem
