How many female blacksmiths are there in Britain?

I'm writing a book. One of the central characters is a female blacksmith. When I asked for a critique on the book someone said that blacksmiths must be extremely rare, and female ones even more so. 

I know a number of blacksmiths in my area. Is this unusual?
