My understanding of it is that when you belong to a Church, a group, or family, then that for sure will have an impact on your life, and your behavior.
after all what really shapes one personality is his experience in life.
the concept of mid-life crisis is rooted in the question you have posted. why does a successful 45 year old with a business and family throw it out of the window, 20 years of marriage and all? the erason is mortality, as we grow older we take a look at our lives and realise we are going to die. we ask ourselves if we have done all we wanted to do, suffice to say most havent, they realise their lives have drifted and so the midlife crisis ensues.
the lost individual then tries to make up the lost time by starting anew, hence neglecting businesses wives families and take up new sports, most of which are risky, drive faster cars, get mistresses... asssume u get the drift.......
