Windows 7 permissions all fouled up from touchy touchpad

I have a Toshiba laptop that has fouled up the permissions in windows 7 by duplicating directories everywhere. The touchpad was so sensitive it kept copying directories into themselves. (if that's possible)

I have disabled the touchpad and bought a mouse for my family to use instead. I was not around to see this ongoing problem. My daughters would accidentally delete pictures and music. They would wonder where they went. Some documents dissappeared too but i found them in other directories.

They did not empty the recycle bin so we have our files back but (sorry to take so long to get to the point) I bought an Epson scanner and when I try to scan to PC, I get an '... insufficient permission ...' error. I have tried to find all the 'sharing' and 'security' tabs to allow 'read/write' to 'everybody' and still nothing works.

The laptop only has one user. I assumed that user is the administrator but I have received some 'administrator' errors pop up too. I'm about to pull out my last two hairs. I hope I'm not the only person with this problem. (not the hair thing)

Can anybody help me? All I want is to restore the original permissions. (I think) I have tried the 'secedit ... ' thing but got the 'admin..' error and a syntax error messages.

Thank you.

I can't help you to recover, but I do have two comments that could be of relevance for the future:

1. When moving cursor with the touchpad, keep your left hand well away from the keyboard as the slightest contact it makes with the left-c**** button can result in an unwanted c****.

2. Don't nod off momentarily as the weight of your hands will produce unwanted results (this happens to me quite frequently).

thank you for your input but that won't happen again. I have disabled the touchpad. I tried adjusting sensitivity and still had some problems. Thanks again
