hindu is a word not found in the scriptures. comes from the word sindu the muslims called the people who lived by the sindu river hindu.the religion is sanatan dharma.
It is said that according to 'Brihaspathi Agama' the word 'Hindu' is derived from the first letter 'Hi' from the word ' Himalaya" and from the word " Indu" ( i. e. Indus river). Hence, Hindu = Hi + Indu. There is also a 'Shloka' which reads as under:
Actualy HINDU sanskrit word ,Heenam dushayathy means which one is usless for our eternal life or unhealthy objects for our physical and mental (SOUL) livablity . another version is "HUMKARA" =tha sound of HUM means enjoying people with the sound of OMKAR
Hind means Beautifull In arabic, when arab people come in india and looking indian people and his culture and costumes so they called indian people "Hindu" That means beutifull !
