Please tell me and many other St Paul downtown residents when there will be a new store to replace Macy's. A store is desperately needed like a "Super Target" or "Walmart". There's lots of downtown residents who would love to have the convenience of a store that would be in that location and also a benefit to tourism and money maker for St Paul. It would create lots of jobs also
I am sorry to inform you that there will never be a retail or box store / department store at the site of the old Macy's store. Here is what I found:
"City Center Realty Partners LLC, which developed the 800 N. Washington St. TractorWorks building in Minneapolis into an office hub, has reached a purchase agreement, but it has not closed the sale, the officials said."
In other words, their downtown corridor development plan has no indication of replacing Macy's with another retailer. I think you if your people want retail downtown you had better talk to the City Council and the Planning Commission.
If your community has signed on to the U.N. Agenda 21 / Iclei ("Sustainable Development") I can tell you that they want mixed use commercial businesses. That means small retail spaces with small apartments above or small retail below and office space above. This is the model throughout Europe
I personally do not accept Agenda 21 Sustainable Development however, they are forcing it on communities all over the world and will do it at the point of a gun if necessary.
As you can see the needs of the individual is out weighed by the demands of those in control.
