Where I live it is a very warm climate.  We have multiple growing seasons.  This year we grew for the first time tomatoes, collard green, kohlrobi, chives, brocoli and peppers.  We do not own any land.  But we have a nice size terrace.   What a great feeling it has been to compost our own soil and plant everything from seed.

We also eat wild things like figs, grapes, carobs, pomergranate, almonds and blackberries.  We have been having a ball growing and eating wild foods.

My dream is to own a farm and raise our own food both animals and plants.  I never thought I would want to be a farmer.  But now I do.

Tell us about your experiences.

Thinking of becoming a farmer. please spend time working with a farmer. There is a Big difference from growing vegetables in your back yard to working a farm. Specially when dealing with animals.

Plan on no more vacations, and being up at 5:00 in the morning and not going to sleep till 9-10 at night. There are classes you can take. try one of them before you put to much money into something that might fail in the first year.
