How To Lose Weight

Note: The following is a naturopathic approach to health.  If you would prefer to use the drugs and procedures typically prescribed by doctors do not bother reading this.

Weight gain is a symptom of a body that is in trouble.  There are four conditions that cause the body to become stressed.  Obesity is the body being stressed.  Those four conditions are: Starvation, Suffocation, dehydration and Toxification.  When a person becomes overweight the body is literally starving for nutrition.

Nutrition in the food is either insufficient or not absorbed by the body.  As a result people continue to eat past what is necessary.  Not only that but most people consume fast burning carbohydrates which are far easier to manufacture and cheaper than protein.

There is only one reason why a person becomes fat.  That is they eat too many calories according to Dr. Peter Glidden.  When you meet your nutritional needs you will have no need to consume more food than is necessary and certainly not eating the wrong foods.

I hope this helps.

G.

Quick question, what does exercise have to do with diet (and vise versa)?

Excellent question:

Exercise is very important for everyone of every age regardless of their health condition.  But it has to be appropriate.  The body will rebuild itself if it is stimulated.  Sitting on a couch watch TV all day tells the body to stop building.

However, too much exercise can also send the body into a stress condition.  Weight gain is a stress response.  There are 4 conditions that send the body and the cells into stress: Starvation, suffocation, dehydration and toxification.  People will put on weight when the body senses that it is being starved for food.  This happens when you eat the wrong foods devoid of nutrition or absorption is impaired.  Either way when the body senses that it is not getting enough nutrition it will go into stress and eating becomes automatic.

Exercising does not have to be iron man training.  Thirty minutes of walking will do wonders for most people.  Walk up stairs.  Do weight bearing exercises for a few minutes a day.  You do not  have to workout like a mad man.  A few stretches, knee bends, stomach crunches and walking are great.  The body likes a little work and lots of long periods of rest.

During those restful times the body heals, rebuilds and digests food.

Exercising is also good to oxygenate the blood and to improve circulation.  Most people know that blood is pumped by the heart.  But few realize that the other circulatory system uses movement of the body to create its flow.  I am talking about the lymphatic system.

The lymphatic system is the sewage system of the body.  As long as it is flowing freely everything is fine.  But when it gets blocked there will be serious trouble.  One way to avoid trouble is by moving the body as in walking, playing sports, running, swimming, etc.

One of the best exercises ever is jumping on a rebounder.  This is an excellent exercise even for people with recovering from Cancer.

There are too many benefits to exercising.  But when it comes to losing weight most people can not do enough exercise to lose weight.  Weight gain is the result of eating too many calories.  The reason a person eats too many calories is because of nutritional deficiencies and eating the wrong foods.  If you exercise with supplementing you will soon end up in the hospital as I did a few years ago.

There were tons of people on my ward who were young athletes who had fallen ill due to exercising without supplementing.  We all sat and cried because we could not understand how could we be so fit and yet be so unhealthy.

I hope this answers your question.
