Syria is using chemical weapons against its own citizens. The United States, as a father of democracy and who has an international power to block more deaths in Syria, should intervene in Syria.

Think False Flag.  We all know what it is to use the so called Chemical weapons and blame it on your enemies.  Its been done over and over again.  What is new about this tactic?

Hello Ashley,

The U.S. is not the father of democracy.  The U.S. has a horrible history of preventing freedom and democracy: The Native Americans, women were not allowed to vote.  slavery, The war between the states to force the Southern state to stay in the Union, massive killing of German prisoners of war, stealing of land from Spain and Mexico, stealing the Hawaiian Islands from the native people, Japanese Americans imprisoned during WWII, Invasion of Cuba, Panama, Nicaragua, Libya, Iraq, bombing of ****stan, Afghanistan, swaying votes in Australia, in America, financing Pol Pot in Cambodia, secret wars in Laos, AfriCam, fake bombings all over the world, Iran / Contra, overthrow of Mozadek in Iran, support of Alcaida in Syria, Egypt, Iran, Libya, Afghanistan and elsewhere, violation of their own Constitution and laws and more.

I can not see how you can think the U.S. is the father of Democracy?  Read your history instead of watching TV.

Ashley woo only claimed that the U.S. is a father of democracy, not THE father of democracy; that accolade surely goes to Ancient Greece. Sure the U.S. has made grave errors throughout its history; but it has done many good things too, guided by its inspiring constitution ("We hold these truths to be self-evident ..."). Whatever its faults, no one can deny that it is a democracy.

The West has no interests to pursue in Syria and would therefore be well advised to steer clear. The chemical weapon attack was horrible and utterly reprehensible, but it isn't crystal clear who was responsible for it, and anyway the passage of time makes retaliation almost impossible as the regime moves innocents onto the planned targets to deter such action.

We should all take to heart the maxim "No military plan survives first contact with the enemy", or to put it another way, be careful what fights you choose to become involved in for you can never foretell where it will lead. Only when a vital interest of your country is at stake should you consider becoming embroiled.
