I was just inform that I was being demoted from manager to producer in an insurance company. The only write-up I ever received was over a year ago and involved my writing up an auto policy in not quite the right way. When I spoke with my DM, he stated if I had first gotten his approval, he would have approved it. Anyway, I received a final written warning, even though I have never been disciplined before either verbally or writing.
Right after the 4th of July, I brought in some fireworks for a employee from another office. I had gotten them in Oklahoma when there for a funeral. The employee came buy the office to pick them up. I gave them to him right in front of the DM (who is actually new and I believe he has a problem with me). Nothing was said what-so-ever at that time. It was just was just today I was told about the demotion. I believe that they are using the letter issued over a year ago as their basis. I honestly didn't realize I was doing something wrong and can't understand why the DM didn't say something at the time of the instance.
I have taken quite a bit of time off under the FMLA and feel that perhaps they are using this because of all my time off. I now have to drive over an hour to my new office. I'm being told that since there is no manager currently in that office, I'll probably get back up to manager within a month. Is there anything I can do? ELB
i don t know laws in your state. but in ma. probly most states with out a union and a contract a company has right to do what ever they want. Al have to say is they beleave it in best interest of the bussness. How ever (in mass any ways) if it involes a large pay cut under certain percent. You can refuse tthe job and colect unemplyment while you activly look for anther job. You would have to call your state and ask there laws. it sucks but thats way it is. very hard to fight a company unless you are a union member than there are rules .and some one to fight for you. good luck
