I have been given my grandchild through court residency order.  I work and although I absolutely love having my grandchild, it is hard to balance work and moreso finances.  There is no help out there as my wage bracket (due to company car seen as benefit) does not qualify me for work tax credit!  I am absolutely shocked that work tax credit is based on your 'gross' monthly income and not 'net'!  Therefore after the taxman has taken the best of my wage due to company car and in addition to me paying PUC, which then brings my wage to 'low' is not considered!  What help is there for grandparents?  I pay nearly £400 extra a month for additional hours in pre-school.
