BCCI has to be squarely and summarily held responsible for the whole mess.
i. The very foundation of IPL starts with the Auction of players. How much black money is involved in the whole affair, no one knows or for that matter NOT willing to know....
ii. Two IPL teams Kochi Tusker and Deccan Chargers came into being and later virtually vanished into the blue. Is there any back track of the thousands of crores of Rupees that where pumped into ? BCCI will never allow anyone to muddle or peep into their affairs. Everyone knows the end result of sincere efforts put in by Mr. Ajay Makan to bring BCCI under Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. All the prominent politicians, including of course Sharad Pawar, fought tooth and nail to oppose the bill.
iii. Imposing ban for a few years or for life time on the players involved in betting is not the solution of the problem. Unless stern action including imprisonment for at least 5 years is put in place, the fear for such unethical acts will continue unabated. But who will bell the Cat.... ?
iv. The accounted for as well as unaccounted for money coupled with the glamour of film industry involved in the IPL is the root cause for giving more preference by the players to IPL rather than Ranji Cricket / Test Cricket or One Day cricket for that matter. Young lads always dream for their IPL career rather than for showing their performance the matches played for the country.
v. At no point of time any trail for the real people behind the betting game has been investigated into. It is a known fact that the bookies cannot function without the patronage of their political masters. It is for this reason, unless the political masters are exposed and action is initiated against them, this menace will continue to flourish with no leaps and bounds. But this will never happen at least in the present scenario.
vi. The young cricketers are well aware of the sources of funds of their IPL masters. Knowing fully well that majority of such masters are involved in some or the other malpractices and no action has been initiated / taken against such people, they are naturally tempted to venture into unethical practices in the never ending thirst for money and glamour
