In the Republic, Plato talks about controlled mating in order to produce a higher number of ‘Gold Souls’.

However, in the Phaedrus he says that after the fall, the soul can be incarnated into nine different types of persons according to the exposure the soul would have had of the forms.

How does these two come together? That is, what is the connection between the genetic composition that results from mating gold souls individuals and the kind of soul that baby will have? Given that the souls would have been determined according to their exposure to the forms, does that mean that by mating two individuals with gold souls it is more likely to attract a soul that would have been exposed further to the forms.
